A concept for a cordless electric screwdriver, inspired by Barber Osgerby’s refined minimalism. Its smooth, ergonomic form ensures comfort, while intuitive controls enhance ease of use. Crafted from durable materials with a matte finish, it balances functionality and elegance. Compact and lightweight, it blends performance with a design-conscious approach

After doing some research on the studio's values, forms and their vision towards designing, I tried to apply all of it into the design. The process consisted on an ideation to find the main shape, followed by foam iterations to improve it and refine its elements.

It consists of two perpendicular planes, with a connecting curve that smoothly brings them together while ensuring comfort on the hand. The curve was inspired by the 2022 tap designed for AXOR.

Its mental model is based on a main characteristic; it doesn't have a finger rotating button. The screwdriver turns when the tip is pressed, ensuring a smoother surface, that only presents the required elements.

It is turned on, and the rotation is determined thought the three buttons on the back. This three have a slight bump to make it intuitive when using it without the need to pause its use, just to change rotation.
