Mirae
Year 2025
Mirae exists as a process of evolution; from a stool that exists as an independent piece, growing into a chair.
Following a purpose of designing not only an object, but a story, a process.
The stool is guided with curves, that deterimine its shape. Starting from an outwards one on the foot, that is turned inwards before getting to the seat; giving it its complexity, strectching the material in unexpected ways.
The seat shares a two way curvature for confort, both meeting in the middle.
Thought to be an independent piece as a stool, it is versatyle and made to co-exist with more stools. To serve a purpose of communion and reunion when people come to your house.
The assembled, all wooden chair is though of ot be a more static piece of furniture, as the backrest slides in as a tight fit. It is not thought to go in and out often.
Closing mechanism based on four magnets on each part
Differing from the all-wood option, the plastic backrest is thought of as a more versatile chair. Through a curve on the backrest that is a bit smaller in radius, it has a hidden affordance. This backrest has some hidden flexibility, just enough to get in the incision and lock itelf by the tension created.
